Digital divide is the gap between people who have access to computers or mobile devices versus those who do not. Almost half of the world is still offline, meaning that they don't have internet, computers, cell phones, etc. There are several reasons to this. Using the African continents as an example, their digital divide is mostly caused by cost. They don't have the luxury to afford to get online with the internet.

Digital divide causes barriers between people. For example, during Covid, communication was only possible through phone calls or online meetings because of the virus. For those who did not have such luxury, this was impossible for them. However, for the people who had the internet and devices, but didn't have such good ones, it was relaly frustrating just to make a simple call. These barriers can lead to being unfavored by important people like bosses, whcih ultimately lead to not being able to get jobs.

There are a few ways to reduce digital divide. One way is to make affordable internet service. This will lead to people not having to stress about internet, but instead have more freedom. Another way is to have better quality technical support so that if there are any problems, they can be fixed right away, whenever it is needed. Finally, another way to reduce digital divide is to do a lot of virtual events which may encourage people to start using their devices more, for a good reason. This can also bring people closer together.
